The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancer. Its mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $1.3 billion in groundbreaking research, pioneering many of today’s most innovative approaches to blood cancer treatment.
This is an extremely exciting time in the organization’s history, with decades of investment in scientific research coming to fruition. Thanks in large part to LLS funding, the FDA has approved more than 50 new treatments for blood cancers in the last three years, vastly outpacing previous years. In enabling daily medical advancements, LLS is saving lives and realizing the vision for a world free of blood cancer.
LLS has had enduring success with campaign-driven fundraising incorporating large-scale, professionally produced events. Multiple campaigns take place in markets throughout the country and leverage nationally defined best practices to achieve outstanding success year-over-year. The Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area (SVMB) chapter conducts several of these nationally recognized campaigns each year with an existing track record of success.
Based in San Jose, the Director, Special Events plays a critical role in the success of the chapter by leading a team of campaign specialists who in turn oversee all aspects of their respective campaigns. In total, the campaigns under the leadership of the Director, Special Events represent annual revenue in excess of $1.7 million for the chapter. Multiple campaigns are experiencing double-digit year over year growth.
