Overview

Business lead for LLS research institution partner alliance and compliance activities. Responsible for transactions, portfolio management, compliance, and analytical activities in support of the Research Grant, and other Mission initiatives for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Inc. (LLS).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and systematize proactive outreach activities with research institutions reporting either commercial transactions involving LLS funded intellectual property or where public information and LLS research intelligence suggests the potential for existence of such a transaction.
  • Interfacing with LLS business, research, external consultants and legal team, negotiate and close revenue sharing and other agreements with partnered institutions.
  • Obtain and review required agreements, reports, and other documentation from research institution partners and institution licensees related to commercialization of LLS funded intellectual property including but not limited to option or license transactions, asset sales, and creation of start-up newco’s, all with or without equity components.
  • Perform basic financial analysis for known and potential transactions.
  • Ensure contract documents are uploaded into LLS contracts portal and filed in appropriate locations within LLS IT systems for stakeholders in Research/Mission, Legal, and Finance.
  • Develop and manage contract process and documentation, and manage, track, and report on pre-closing, closing, and post-closing funding, accounting, receivables, and other obligations.
  • Develop and implement standardized transaction and due diligence checklists, and reports.
  • Track and monitor portfolio with standardized metrics and reports.
  • Track, review, and integrate time spent on projects by external consultants and legal counsel into reports by project, activity, and other relevant metrics.
  • Ensure satisfaction of LLS stakeholders with quality deliverables, and timely resolution of issues arising in the course of partner alliance and compliance activities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS's mission and programs to promote the Society's innovation funding, research, and mission initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business.  
  • 5 years experience performing basic financial analyses, structuring, negotiating, closing and managing life science based research contracts, including license, collaboration, revenue sharing, and equity investment agreements.

  • Capable of working well with a variety of personalities and leadership styles.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, document review, tracking, and contact management software.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.

  • Periodic after hours support in transaction or project specific circumstances.
