The Data Manager will review, monitor and improve data utilized within the Education & Services (E & S) Department’s Salesforce platform.  This includes managing data processed through existing integrations, as well as supporting the build out of new integrations and enhancements within the platform, including data migration efforts.  The person in this role will work closely with external organizations, as well as LLS’s IT Department, to ensure integrations are running smoothly and quality data is available for E & S users on a real-time basis.  In addition, they will plan and execute data quality review, cleanup and identify strategies for improvement; the individual in this role will also provide data reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee critical aspects of Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) integration of financial assistance data; this includes monitoring audit logs, checking for data quality issues, reconciling manual lead intakes; handling changes/additions to funds; handling changes to administration that will impact the integration; and coordinating with other individuals internally and externally to manage these changes, including leading meetings and taking detailed notes, as needed
  • Plan and execute testing of data loads/migrations into Salesforce; check expected counts from source against actual load, as well as errors
  • Oversee data aspects of Electronic Health Record (from Cancer Centers) integration with Salesforce, including monitoring audit logs, checking for data quality issues, communicating between E & S, Cancer Center sites and IT team on changes/enhancements and status of integration. Support addition of new Cancer Center sites and associated changes to workflow
  • Partner with LLS’ Information Technology (IT) department on integrating additional external data into Salesforce, provide input on how data are to be populated, review external data prior to integration for accuracy, resolve data-related errors after data are loaded, review rules to identify duplicate constituents as needed
  • Assist with merging and cleanup of duplicate CRM data, utilizing tools within the Master Data Management (MDM) hub, where appropriate
  • Monitor data to ensure protocols are followed and data are being entered as expected, and discuss protocol issues with Director, Data Quality Improvement and Training, utilizing MDM hub where appropriate
  • Work with Director, Data Quality Improvement and Training to communicate with Education & Services staff regarding data-related processes and changes
  • Develop data quality review plans and dashboards, including key data quality indicators to measure over time; review data to determine sources of poor quality and recommend strategies for improvement, utilizing tools within MDM hub where appropriate
  • Perform data cleaning operations; facilitate large scale data cleanup efforts, leveraging other resources as appropriate.
  • Aid in developing and maintaining standard reports and dashboards for use across the department to allow Salesforce users to track key metrics, such as number of patients reached in a given locale; validate the data used in reporting
  • Assist in extracting and compiling additional data reports when it is not feasible for department staff to generate them on their own, or where the report requestor does not have Salesforce access
  • Partner with IT to facilitate improvements to the Salesforce platform to meet the evolving needs of the department
  • Assist with standardizing data questions and response options across E & S forms, including education program registrations, patient referral forms, nutrition consultations, clinical trial referrals, email signup forms, and others as appropriate
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of the LLS mission, programs, and how E & S staff work, in order to understand the context for the data that are captured and utilized
  • Work with external vendors as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned



  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Outstanding judgment, initiative, critical thinking and attention to detail are essential. Must be able to manage competing and shifting priorities

  • Basic knowledge of statistical practices
  • Strong working experience of MS Excel and database query languages
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Salesforce Tableau CRM is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with statistical operations package such as SAS or SPSS preferred
  • Strong priority-setting and project management skills
  • Superior judgment in determining resolutions to challenging data issues
  • Demonstrated ability to detect patterns in data
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a wide variety of disciplines, e.g., IT, volunteers and E & S, healthcare and clinical staff

Physical Demands

  • Position may require occasional night and weekend work as well as occasional travel
